IRADJ MOINI: I Want A Chunk From You

Go chunky or go home, although the economic climate is not at its best temperature, looks like the main trend is all about being FABULOUS. Seriously what could be more stylish than wearing a plain, simple and classic black or white outfit paired up with a big, fabulous, colorful and chunky piece of jewelry? It is all about the contrasts…
Le Boudoir has therefore discovered for you just the perfect designer, who will make your entire big stones’ dream come true. By using semi-precious materials, arranged in an amazing creative and harmonious way, Iradj Moini simply creates beautiful, color popping and happy pieces of jewelry to enhance your look.

Iradj Moini has designed jewelry in New York since 1989. His jewelry was exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2006 as part of Iris Apfel's collection, and was also featured in the Trop Exhibit at the Louvre where he has three pieces in their permanent collections.

His jewelry is regularly published in various high fashion magazines. Formerly a couture designer for Oscar De La Renta, and with a background in architecture, Iradj’s handmade jewelry is exhibited and collected worldwide.

CARLA BRUNI - Tu Es Ma Came

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy (born Carla Gilberta Bruni Tedeschi, 23 December 1967) is an Italian-born, naturalized French songwriter, singer, and former model. She is currently the First Lady of France, after marrying French President Nicolas Sarkozy in February 2008.Carla Bruni was born in Turin, Italy, and is the heiress to the fortune of an Italian tire manufacturing company.First admired for her beauty throughout her modeling career, then for the poetry and softness of her songs, she is now representing France by standing on Nicolas’s side as the first Lady.Le Boudoir has decided to dedicate this article to Carla to give homage to her beauty and to the delicate aspect of her music. Her latest and third album “Comme Si De Rien n’Etait” (As If Nothing Happened) came out last September in France and is already a best seller.See here our favorite song from it: “Tu Es Ma Came” (You Are My Drug).

SNEAKERS MANIA

We are hip-hop(ing) our Boudoir a little bit by presenting you some of the coolest sneakers out there right now, Street Style YES, but still in Style. They are all at it, taken from big designer brands like Lanvin, Hermes, Balenciaga, etc…, to pop culture artists such as Takashi Murakami, to the regulars with Nike, Reebok & Co. They come in all shapes, colors, materials, patterns and more and more as collector items, so get your sneakers on!
Obviously those of you who know me will totally understand why my favs are the Takashi Murakami By Hiroshi Fujiwara ones!! :) <3

I still have to say that nothing might ever replace a good pair of “tea-washed”, classic, everlasting, old school, beloved and loyal converse!!

My super great tip of the day: make OLD with NEW!
For those of you converse addicts out there who are desperately looking for a wearable “old looking” pair of chucks because your old ones are in serious RIP shape now but you can’t be bothered mistreating your new ones, nor waiting until they start looking like they have had a life before they met you … here is my contribution to you:
Get a pair of new chucks (preferably a light color) and put them in the washing machine at high temperature with two tea-bags of your finest Earl Grey or English Breakfast et voila!!
They will come out looking great and “vintagy” as hell. You can actually do that with your shirts, t-shirts and jeans as well; I have a friend who does it with all his Ts and believe me everybody asks about it all the time.
And if you are too lazy for that little washing adventure…, I have something even better for those of you in L.A. or C.A.: I actually got amazingly surprised when I discovered a little time ago that the Men Ralph Lauren store in Malibu was selling the converses already tea-washed!!!! Isn't that just amazing??!! But just for the record they are also triple the price…

CAN'T BUY ME LOVE!!!

At Le Boudoir we understand the pressure of V day, and here is our thoughtful contribution to all you love birds out there!
In regards to the real meaning of love, caring and sharing with your significant other is vital so we are coming up this year with a V day resolution of our own: the "make a gift yourself" policy!!!
Of course receiving standard and valuable gifts is always a pleasure no matter the circumstances. Actually, we are strong believers that your other half should constantly be spoiling you all year round with presents for just the sake of it. 364 days of the year when you should get diamonds, flowers, gowns, cars, perfumes, houses etc...
No point in dissing Valentine's day just cause you think its commercial nonsense (although it is) and if the idea of watching a random grouping of couples smooching under a candle makes you cringe, just make it YOUR special day in the privacy of your own home or at an intimate, exotic and special getaway. As one has to conform to social expectations and still celebrate this day, we suggest you create a "house made / artisanal" gift. Something unique made just for this special day and filled with raw love and creativity. There are plenty of gift ideas and things to do, the sky and your imagination are the limit! It could be a drawing (no it's not cheesy), a song you wrote, a meal (cooked by yourself of course, no take out or restaurant), a walk on the beach, a jar of jam (not your grandma's), a pot (made by you from your pottery classes), a poem, a painting, a sclupture etc..., ANYTHING, as long as its made by YOU.

Forget the chocolates and the flowers. They are cliché, you can give her flowers any other days on the 13th, the 15th!! But on the 14th just make it yourself!!!

But because, some of you might not have an ounce of creative talent or that I already see half of you wonder what is wrong with me (specially regarding "the jam" or "the pot" idea...); for all you shopaholic out there, tomorrow we will also be posting some cool gift ideas, THAT YOU CAN BUY, to inspire your hearts and somehow help you keep that gf or bf of yours "satisfied" and interested!

JUSTICE'S L.A. APPEARANCE !!!!!

Justice’s French Electro DJ duo Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay spun the night away last night at a private concert at My House (club) in Hollywood. Their Grammy nominated debut album was released in 2007 on Ed Banger Records. The performance wasn’t out of this world, but still good, I would say. The party, a Belvedere event to introduce their new ginger mixed vodka (apparently for some people this piece of information is really important...) was packed with lots of Frenchies, electro kids and off course Kanye West was part of the attendance. Above is your little hint of what was happening at the DJ booth and some sneaking on the play list… Seriously, what wouldn’t I do for you guys!!?

Hear Candy:
Check out Justice’s hits: "Never Be Alone" and "D.A.N.C.E"

Bonus Track from the 60's!! The remix they played of The Ronettes' "Be My Baby" was my favorite song of last night’s play list, check out the original version below:

YUKO NASU

Tow weeks ago, Japanese painter Yuko Nasu inaugurated an exhibition of his best portraits in The Arts Gallery, London. One that caught our eye was the portrait he did of famous top model Kate Moss.
Nasu specialises in doing portraits that challenge people to recognise the person. It's interesting that just a few details can make a person recognisable. The portrait of Kate guarantees media attention, but Nasu's work is certainly eye-catching.
To see more of his work visit John Doe, the Arts Gallery, 65 Davies Street, London W1K 5DA

AN ALL WHITE FOR CHACHA….

The couture fashion week just endend in Paris. The most beautiful show was Chanel once again, in defiance of the darkness of the time karl Lagerfeld said he would cleared everything away and « started with a clean sheet of paper » an all white collection sounds really clinical, but it wasn’t at all, it was graphic and full of Freshness just a moment of romance in this time of recesion. All the silhouettes cut in a A line, which is a huge exercise of precision .The Japanese hairdresser Kamo, made this amazing hairwork with uncredible paper roses, camelia and Feathers.

Lagerfeld’s Genius is glowing once again.

Michelle Obama's Inauguration DRESS

The day that will officially reveal America's new colors is now closer than ever. The Presidential Inauguration Day will take place tomorrow Tuesday January the 20th and one major question is on the lips of all our fellow fashion preoccupied Americans:
What is Michelle wearing for Inauguration night?
The, really soon to be, first Lady's ball gear has been a major concern for lots of fashion houses and publications these last months.
Women Wear Daily has published the sketches that have been submitted by some of the major fashion houses and designers to dress Michelle Obama for that historic night (including Chanel, Oscar De La Renta, Marc Jacobs, Reem Acra, Rodarte and many more...). The Washington Post even started a contest giving the opportunity to few random designers to have their version of Mrs. Obama's ball gown published in their last issue.

So because I know that somewhere on the East Coast a lady named Michelle is so confused right now, that she hasn't probably slept in weeks wondering what the hell she should wear and that she must be going bananas because browsing designer gowns can get really hectic... I have decided to give her a compassionate hand!
Here are my personal two favorite numbers, out of all the suggested Couture designs, for Mrs. O.:

by Diane Von Furstenberg

by Christian Lacroix

Dear Michelle, no matter what you end up wearing, just party it up like a First Lady, after all you are married to one of the most powerful men in the world!!

PS: Happy Martin Luther King’s day to all of you!!!
It looks like MLK’s dream did come true! How strangely interesting it is that MLK’s day is just the day before the first African-American president is officially moving into the White-House(...)!

Slumdog Millionaire: an irresistible romantic drama

It is the most talked-about British film in years — a spectacular fusion of Hollywood and Bollywood, with a setting in the slums of Mumbai that has proved to be extraordinarily topical.

Danny Boyle's tale of a Mumbai teenager who goes on India's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire that was the biggest winner at the Golden Globes ceremony, in Los Angeles. It was best film drama and there were honours for its director Danny Boyle ( Trainspotting, The Beach...), screenwriter Simon Beaufoy and composer AR Rahman. Slumdog Millionaire is now heavily tipped to replicate its success at the Academy Awards next month.

The movie is a modern-day Oliver Twist, a romantic fairytale about the joys and nightmares of childhood, about a boy's search for love, and about a teeming, terrifying city on the rise. Dev Patel stars as Jamal, the 18-year-old recounting his life as a "slumdog" on the streets of Mumbai.

As we are shown in the first scene, the turning point in this wretched life will be his successful appearance on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, but even here the scene cross-cuts between the quiz host's questions and those of the police, who suspect him of having cheated and are torturing him in a grotty cell. Born into poverty in the slums of Mumbai, he soon after witnesses the slaying of his mother during a raid by anti-Muslim bandits, then he's rounded up by one of the organised gangs that maim small children before putting them to work as beggars, escapes into an itinerant life of petty crime, before returning to rescue the childhood sweetheart who has been sold into prostitution.

The story of Jamal Malik could serve as a metaphor for India's evolution from third world country to international powerhouse. It is part optimistic, romantic fairytale, and part nightmare of corruption, cruelty and cynical exploitation.

I strongly recommend you to watch the movie if you haven't done so yet.

HOMAGE TO STEPHEN SPROUSE JAN 09

Stephen Sprouse a man, an artist a legacy …

This January seems to be Sprouse’s month. For a man who passed away in 2004, this month alone, Louis Vuitton launches a new Sprouse collection, Deitch Projects holds a Sprouse retrospective, Stephen Sprouse: Rock on Mars, and Rizzoli will publish The Stephen Sprouse Book.

For those of you who have been hibernating, Sprouse is the artist behind the genius graffiti tags, in collaboration with Marc Jacobs, that reinvented the image of Louis Vuitton’s classic luggage overnight, eight years ago. The pieces sold out instantly. And faux LV à la Sprouse bags appeared on Canal Street and beyond shortly thereafter–the hallmark of a true hot commodity. This month’s Louis Vuitton Sprouse-inspired collection is the third Sprouse-Jacobs collaboration the luxury house has undertaken.

Sprouse was a precursor in fashion and art by reinventing street style and giving a new voice to the punk movement. His fame and success came from his ability to pair street wear with high-end materials, coupling with LVMH’s business savvy and Marc Jacobs’ well branded empire gave him his international recognition. It would discredit his memory to label Sprouse’s designs as simply fashion. His greatest achievement might just be his irrepressible legacy. Sprouse’s seamless blend of music, art and fashion into an utterly personal web continues to inspire artists and designers, like Jacobs himself.

HILARIOUS !!!!! THE LAWS OF STYLE / A new type of criminals ...

After the Golden Globes in L.A. that is all you hear about: THE FASHION POLICE! So I couldn’t stop laughing when I randomly ran into the link for a website called the “Laws of Style”. Although I have to say that the presentation video is quite cheesy and that those cops feel more like porn stars than actual fashion experts (you will understand why after watching the video) it is nevertheless hilarious and the idea is not bad at all!! Basically, using that website you can send virtual citations to let your friends, or the people of your choice, know how you feel about their fashion faux-pas!!!!
For a great laugh and a fun joke check out: http://www.lawsofstyle.com/

PS: I already have some people on my list ... hi hi hi
Please let us know if you have sent one of those already and to whom and why or even if you have ever received one, we want to know about it! It is just a joke after all!!
